Over the ocean and far away

A word about the rhythm of my new life… As you know, I was living in Spain before coming here… I used to go for dinner at 10 pm. Then you go for a copa in a bar at midnight, and then you go dancing in a club after 2 am…

Here… you go to bed at 9:30 pm, wake up at 5:30 am …. I know, I know… you wonder if I can manage this for one full year. I also wonder.

However, there are the weekends to make up for this. And at weekends the party starts at 5 pm and ends at 5 am…

Ouch, my head is spinning only thinking of this.

I know, I know, it’s been a while… i am so busy with work, you know how it is… ok, quick post, to let you know of my first days at Korman – yes, the place where I live in US.

Closed residential area, 30 minutes away from work, 30 minutes away from Manhattan (driving). Not bad…
Nice group of people, did I talk about them? No? here they are:

M, Norwegian, loves to bathe in the sun… wakes up, brushes her teeth and there she is! by the swimming pool… all day long!
K, sleepy Finish guy, who claims he knows the benefits of skype with video for long distance relationships…
E, my Spanish connection ;)
S, borrrrrrred French guy
G, Black Princess, they call him…. more about it another time

M&F madly in love French couple

well, there are others, but this is the core… they are young and crazy and funny and friendly and we’ve been out together severeal times, so i can say i like them

work environment? seriously, you have to see it to believe it. Merck Whitehouse Stations is located in a natural reservation, i drive to work, past the security guard and admire a few dear grazing happily by the side of the road… slow down not to hit the turkey that decided to cross the road right in front of me… the squirrels jump out of tree in front of my office windows… plus, i heard, a few weeks ago, walkers spotted a black bear close by… it’s not a joke!

it is beautiful… it is such a change to Madrid, dry and dead landscape… I love it!

Now, now, I’ll tell you more tomorrow, gotta go!

Difficult task when, on the one hand, you want to be totally aware of the details of the trip, to later tell the story of the first crossing of the ocean; and on the other had, you try to knock yourself out for fear of flying, and to this end you have ingested 3 vodka redbull, prior to your take off….

Vodka has no effect (it’s the altitude) and I spend my time writing on my PDA and watching movies – Ice age 2 is really cute.

Newark, US customs, formalities, the limousine driver sent by Merck to pick me up. He’s funny and helpful and gives me hints for living in US.
